How to choose
Matching the right trampoline to your child
Three practical questions cover most shopping decisions: how old is the child, where will it live and how much space do you have? Once you can answer those, the range narrows quickly.
1. Age and confidence
Babies from 12 months and toddlers usually start on the 1.9 ft My First Trampoline, which has a low deck and a handlebar to grip. Preschoolers aged three and up tend to move on to a 3 ft indoor mini, while ages 3 to 6 enjoy the junior or 4.5 ft outdoor options.
2. Indoor or outdoor
If the trampoline is going to live in a lounge or playroom, an indoor mini with a soft padded surround is usually the right call. For garden use, the 4.5 ft outdoor model adds a safety net, zinc-coated springs and a tougher galvanised frame.
3. Available space
Measure the footprint before you buy. A toddler mini needs around 60 cm square plus clearance; a junior model wants roughly 1.2 m clear on every side. Always keep at least a metre of clear floor above a child's head when they are bouncing.
